What does a general practitioner do?
A general practitioner examines and treats the most common conditions, such as respiratory and urinary tract infections, back and joint pain and rashes. They renew prescriptions, write sick notes and certificates, and refer you to a specialist or for tests when needed.
Many GP visits also work as a remote appointment by video or phone, for example renewing a prescription or assessing a cold.

Do I need a referral for a general practitioner?
