How do I prepare?

  • Book a laboratory appointment or check whether the site takes samples without one.
  • Follow the laboratory's instructions: some tests are taken in the morning or after fasting.
  • According to Terveyskirjasto, a cholesterol test usually needs no fasting. If your referral or the laboratory asks you to fast (test fP-Kol), follow that.

The sample is usually taken from a vein in the crook of the arm. It takes a few minutes.

Do I need a referral?

Results are usually ready the same or the next working day and appear in the provider's app or My Kanta. It is worth going through them with a doctor.

How much does it cost?

The lowest price in 4 providers' price lists is €75.00 (Terveystalo), the highest €115.10.
