What does a laboratory do?
Laboratories take blood samples as well as urine and stool samples. The most common tests are a complete blood count, CRP, thyroid TSH, cholesterol and PSA. Some tests are taken fasting or in the morning, so check the instructions before you go.
You can often book a laboratory appointment, and some sites also take samples without one.

Do I need a referral for a laboratory?
Self-paying patients need no referral for lab tests. Kela reimburses laboratory tests only when a doctor ordered them. The laboratory may charge a sample-taking fee on top of the test price.
