When to get a massage?

Massage treats muscles and soft tissue by hand. "Koulutettu hieroja" (trained massage therapist) is a protected healthcare title in Finland, and a massage therapist's details can be checked in the register of professionals.

Massage is widely used for example for neck pain, but according to the patient version of the Current Care Guideline there is no reliable research evidence of its effectiveness. Kela does not reimburse massage.

People go for massage for example for muscle tension, neck and shoulder problems, recovery from sport or relaxation.
