When to see a vascular surgeon?
A vascular surgeon treats diseases of the veins and arteries, such as varicose veins, venous insufficiency in the legs and narrowed arteries, which cause for example pain when walking (claudication).
Symptoms of venous insufficiency include leg swelling, aching and heaviness, varicose veins, darkening of the skin and leg ulcers. If swelling continues despite compression stockings, see a doctor.
